Welcome to the Henley Cricket Club website. Please use the menu on the left to navigate your way around our website. We are very proud of what Henley CC has achieved over the last few years, including buying our own ground, building a new pavilion and developing this new website. On the playing side 2010 will be a hard year to follow as the First and Seconds won their respective leagues, the Thirds were promoted and the Fourths introduced many youngsters to league cricket. Not forgetting the Sunday XI who remained unbeaten all season.

We are a very friendly club, and welcome new players and supporters alike. Our ground is one of the loveliest places  to play or watch cricket in England. Please read on to discover all about HCC over the last few years from our Chairman, Paul Bradbury.

HENLEY COUGARS WIN COUNTY FINAL

Henley Cricket Club has travelled far in recent times. Until a few years ago, the club did not own its own ground and was faced with the daunting prospect of having to raise some £460,000 to purchase the ground in Henley.  With the support of a number of local organisations, the Town Council and hard work by the committee, the club was able to purchase the ground and to move onwards.  As Bob Willis MBE, one of the club’s Vice Presidents has remarked “not only is the cricket club the focal point for any community, but with schools becoming more and more obsessed with league tables and exams, it has become the major springboard for the development of promising local talent…… great spirit has now been shown by the cricket club’s stalwarts in saving the wonderful Henley ground for future generations”. Good luck to Henley Cricket Club for an even brighter future and thank you for your friendship.”

The club has again moved forward with the construction of a splendid new club house which was opened by Bob early in the 2010 season. The pavilion provides seating for some 70 people; extensive kitchen and bar facilities; and enhanced changing areas. In short, we now have an appropriate facility for the 21st century, one which we can be proud of to entertain guests and visiting teams.

On the cricketing front, the club has enjoyed considerable success in recent times. The 1st X1 now competes in the highly competitive Home Counties Premier League and won the championship in 2004, 2009 and 2010. To win the championship two years in succession, a feat only achieved by one other club, is a great achievement for a small club which now fields five teams each weekend and is able to cater for players who like a more social game to those who are of minor county standard or thereabouts.  The 2nd, 3rd and 4th X1s have also enjoyed success in recent years, both 2nd and 3rd X1s being promoted in 2010, the 2nd X1 to the Thames Valley League 1st Division. The Junior Section has also gone from strength to strength and Henley CC is proud to support the local community with a number of its coaches attending sessions each week at local primary and secondary schools.  The club recognises that its future is closely linked with the development of young people in the region.

Any prospective member will find Henley CC is a friendly, family orientated club.  It is a cricket club where people of a like mind can enjoy their game and have fun off the field. Come and join us and enjoy the atmosphere and, of course, your cricket. You will be most welcome.
