Returning to the side captain Chris Ellison kept up his fine form of losing the toss again! On a warm afternoon Henley were in the field.

Openers, Jakob Albiston and Harry Ellison led the bowling attack for Henley. Creating seam and swing movement early chances came and went with several dropped catches giving Kidmore End a promising start.

However, into his 5th over Albiston lured the Kidmore End captain into one too many flashes outside the off stump. This time the catch was taken. A stinger of a grab at second slip by Chris Ellison.

The early introduction of young off spinner Joshua Ellison was an inspired piece of captaincy!

Two more wickets fell in quick succession. A smart grab by Albiston at backward point was followed by a delicious off break clipping leg stump. At 50-3, Henley were now in the ascendancy. Left arm swing bowler Andy Chinn got in on the act with an excellent LBW shout. Duly approved by the umpire. At the same time senior Ellison rolled back the years with a tidy spell of 8 overs 3 maidens 3-11. This included a fine running catch on the boundary by Albiston and an excellent caught n bowled.

Henley had found their mojo in the field!!

With wickets falling Harry Monahan entered the bowling cohort. A wonderful spell of 5 overs 1-8 kept a lid on the run rate. A combo of the youth policy, Toby Oseman to Matt Bollinghaus executed an outstanding run out. Harry Ellison returned to the attack claiming a much deserved wicket. A smart catch at square leg from Laurie Tate. Kidmore End all out for 130 in 38 overs.

In reply, Henley got off to an excellent start albeit helped by some haphazard fielding.

Opening batters Toby Oseman and Laurie Tate added 77 runs for the first wicket. A fantastic effort on a spicy pitch against a more than useful opening spell bowling wise from Kidmore End. Tate going on score 25 runs with a flurry of boundaries as Henley looked to up the run rate. Freddie Bowlby arrived at the crease at 3.

Bowlby was treated to a first ball no ball and free hit. Both deliveries duly dispatched to the boundary. A breezy 10 runs later and unfortunate to get an inside edge back onto his stumps.

The mainstay of the innings though was Oseman. Combining patience, panache with touches of class and excellent running another of Henley’s youth policy notched his half century remaining undefeated on 57 off 67 balls. A fine innings deserving of another Player of the Match performance.

Oseman was joined by Albiston for a quick fire 14 include one boundary and a beautiful pick up six over wide long on. The strike of the day for sure.

Henley moving to victory in the 21st over by 8 wickets. Henley retain 3rd spot in the table and look forward to challenging leaders Maidenhead Royals next weekend.
