Henley were asked to field on a beautiful day to start the season and despite having to chase 276 to win, they felt disappointed not to have won the game.
The Henley bowling was a little erratic at the start of the innings to give Parr (38) and Haider (35) a solid start with runs coming freely. A change of the bowling brought the breakthrough from Garfath-Nebbett to bring Sonning captain Mosley to the crease. Despite giving a couple of chases Mosley anchored the innings for Sonning with a solid 86, supported by Harding (34) and Anderson (27). Taylor bowled well with little luck but managed to curb the blaze of runs from the initial 8 overs.
Snook (1-38) and Garfath-Nebbett (2-50) were the pick, although Matt Nebbett pick up 2 wickets late in the attack.
A daunting target of 275 was posted.
The Henley innings started in fine fashion with Clarke (48) and Gupta (34) putting on 100 partnership for the first wicket before Clarke was bowled just short of her half century. Haider-Ali joined proceedings and batted superbly for 64 together with Snook (43). The 2 senior batmen looked to have put Henley firmly in contention before Rimmer (5-64) and Parashar (3-9) made the breakthroughs just when a Henley win looked the favourite.
Not the start wanted by Henley but with such a young team there were lots of positives to take into the rest of the season.
