A superb unbeaten 161 from Charlie Hunt helped Henley 2nd XI secure an 18-run victory over Amersham 1st XI at Shardeloes.

Amersham won the toss and elected to field, but Henley’s openers made them pay. Hunt and Toby Seward shared a century partnership before Seward was dismissed for 48.

Hunt continued to dominate, adding another 103 with Keegan Borst, who contributed 46. The Henley opener reached his century from 117 balls and accelerated impressively during the closing overs.

Captain Jack Biddulph declared after 49 overs with Henley on 283 for five. Hunt finished unbeaten on 161 from 147 deliveries, striking 23 fours and one six.

Amersham began their reply positively but lost wickets regularly. Prabhav Sistla top-scored with 54, while captain Andrew Viney made a patient 44. Harry Fanning added 32 and wicketkeeper Chico Hillman remained unbeaten on 33 as the hosts attempted to take the match into its final stages.

Sahil Desai produced the decisive spell for Henley, taking four wickets for just 24 runs from 9.4 overs. Owen Bowles and Seward claimed two wickets apiece, with Matt Donovan and Tom Stewart also making breakthroughs.

Amersham reached 250 for eight and threatened to hold on, but Desai removed Stuart Rogers and Matthew Chapman to complete the victory with just two balls remaining.

The hosts were bowled out for 265 in 49.4 overs, giving Henley a hard-earned traditional win and 26 league points.

Henley 2nd XI 283-5 declared beat Amersham 1st XI 265 all out by 18 runs.
