The rain stayed away and we finished under darkened skies but it was a joy to have a full match again after such a disjointed month. Athyantha won the toss and elected to bat. We got off to a good start and everyone played their part. Immi and Martha looked very comfortable at the crease with Martha to scoring and retired at 25 to allow others an opportunity to bat in a friendly fixture. Issy W also showed good composure at the crease and Gabby hit a few lusty blows. Hayley looked in good touch but was run out before she really got going and Athyantha scored stylishly coming in late in the order. We reached a credible 100/6 after our allotted 20 overs
In reply, Maidenhead struggled with the pace of Immi and Athyantha with the latter finishing with 3/6 Gabby bowled tightly for her 1/4 as did Issy and Hayley who both finished with 1/9 each and bowling economically. Akshita bowled excellently too and her figures of 2/15 didn’t fully reflect the effort The Thornton sisters also delivered good line and length and kept the scoring rate to pedestrian levels. A special mention to Saru who volunteered to open the batting and fielded outstandingly She also captured a wicket and conceded only 7 runs. Our player of the match
Maidenhead were eventually all out for 76 with a ball to spare. A very good effort by Henley play in great spirit. Very well done
