We have now formally launched our Ladies Softball team. This squad has just completed its first tournament....
HENLEY LADIES SOFTBALL TEAM SHINE IN DEBUT AT WOMEN’S SOFTBALL CRICKET WORLD CUP
Sunday 22nd June marked a historic day for Henley Women’s Cricket Team as they took to the field for their first ever matches at the Softball World Cup. Despite facing stiff competition from more experienced sides, the team grew in confidence and skill as the day progressed, showing true determination and team spirit throughout.
In their opening games, Henley came up against well-drilled opponents and despite brave performances suffered early defeats. However, far from being disheartened, the team rallied with grit and enthusiasm, taking each match as a learning experience. By the afternoon, their hard work and resilience paid off as they concluded the day with a convincing and well-earned victory.
Every member of the team had the opportunity to bowl, field and bat, showcasing the inclusive and participatory ethos of Henley Cricket Club. The spirit of cricket was well and truly alive, with smiles, support, and sportsmanship evident in every game. The team thoroughly enjoyed the experience, celebrating their progress and unity on what was a milestone occasion.
Henley Women’s Softball Team are now looking to build on this strong foundation. They are welcoming new members of all ages and abilities. Friendly, inclusive and fun, the team offers a fantastic way to stay active and enjoy the sociable, supportive world of women’s softball cricket.
Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to come along for a free trial session on Saturday mornings from 9am at Harpsden CC - no experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a sense of team spirit! Not one of our participants in this weekend’s festival had any real prior cricketing experience.
