HCC GOLF DAY 2016

CRICKET CLUB GOLF DAY AT HENLEY GOLF CLUB – MAY 5TH

Another superb day with 19 teams of four playing for both individual and team prizes.  The weather was absolutely perfect [arranged yet again by HCC’s weather guru Danny Hall] with all round sun and just the gentlest of breezes and the course looking and playing beautifully.

As ever, the most popular feature of the day was the arrival of the ‘On Course Refreshment Buggy’ driven by Danny and Heather, followed by the catering in the Clubhouse.  The bar came in a close third, with the barrel of Brakspears donated by Marstons proving popular.  In fifth place came the prizes, some of which were generously donated by Haringtons, The Bull on Bell Street and Hotel du Vin, the rest being provided by the Cricket Club.  As ever, we are grateful for the balls sponsored by our chairman, BK, plus the case of Bordeaux he donated for the auction, along with the box at Lords provided by Invesco Perpetual and fourball at Harewood Downs.

In last place for many came the golf, although for those beating their handicaps the smiles could be seen from space.  Our winners were as follows:

The individual winner was Peter Roche from the Kenya Kongonis Team with a very impressive 43 points from a 17 handicap [his club has been informed!]

The team winners were the Ugly Ducklings led by mother duck Peter Neville and brood Shaun Tanner, Bill Ling and David Svenson with a total points count of 129.

The pennies are still being counted, but it looks as if the Day will have made a significant contribution to the Ground Purchase Loan Fund, so thank you to all those who played and helped.
